Germany's CFR is now up to 0.96% and still rising. Anyone who thinks we're ending up with a CFR of less than 1% anywhere is kidding themselves.

OK, so I'm not suffering for nothing. Good.
>I wonder how the Netherlands is doing now. Their PM said they were gonna go for herd immunity or something, and that was the last I heard from them. And that was a week or two ago.
@rasterman Decent call tbh.
>Clearly all dead.
How do you square the libertarian concept of "I can do whatever I want as long as I don't hurt anyone else" with the reality of a pandemic where damn near anything you do that doesn't involve staying at home by yourself has the potential to kill a substantial number of people? I think that if your ideology can't adjust to the demands of reality, maybe it's just a fundamentally flawed ideology.

Libertarians are comparable to communists in many ways. Libertarians make invaluable critical observations of government while communists make invaluable critical observations of capitalism. Both operate on absurd assumptions about mankind - libertarians believe we're all free while communists don't believe in human bio-diversity and genetic determinism. Both prescribe over-simplified and unrealistic solutions to complex problems that are disastrous in practice.
Damn near every ideology is bound to stumble on some kernel of truth. Unfortunately they usually have a tendency to surround said kernel with a lot of bullshit.
Welded myself into my room to protect me from this Chinese yandere bitch with bat wings. I don't want your soup, dammit!
Another day, Germany's CFR keeps going up towards 1%. At 0.875% now.
https://twitter.com/JimDMiller/status/1244410289552011270 I know I already posted this, but everyone needs to listen to it if you haven't done so already.
https://twitter.com/JimDMiller/status/1244410289552011270 I strongly recommend everybody listen to this in its entirety. A lot of valuable coronavirus information in here.
I legitimately cannot understand how people are still questioning the severity of this coronavirus over two months after the fucking Chinese Communist Party decided it was so lethal they had to shut down their economy over it.
>what pisses me off is that these are also the people who insist in calling it the china virus or the wuhan virus.
>like, how do conservatards believe that they have the high ground when they behave in ways not to dissimilar from the ones the propaganda machine of the communist party behaves everytime that Xi Jinping fucks something up.
I like Wu Flu as a catchy and memorable name, but it is true they're more concerned with deflecting blame away from Trump than anything else. You don't need to shill for politicians you supported, you don't owe them. They owe you.

https://twitter.com/DavidePiffer/status/1244327592880148482 Death rate over 1% on the Diamond Princess, in South Korea, Germany's rapidly approaching 1%. The evidence says a 1%+ CFR is happening, which means over a million Americans dead in the absence of a lockdown.
Any word on the average age of those on board the Diamond Princess?
I think the median age for cruise ships in general is 60-69, so they are generally older people, but usually not as decrepit as the typical flu fatality/retirement home resident. But considering that it's not out of line with the best-case CFRs in other countries, it would seem to indicate there aren't massive amounts of undetected asymptomatic cases that would drive the CFR down into flu ranges. 0.7% CFR spread over half the US population is still about a million dead.
Hmm, the expected death rate I've seen for those in the 60-69 year range is like 3.6%, somewhat higher than the overall death rate that the study in question reported, but those numbers were from China and therefore extremely suspect. But at a glance, If the real death rate is like 0.8-0.9%, then a death rate of 1.4% on the Diamond Princess would seem roughly in line with expectations.
>For the lower death rate estimates, especially sub-0.3%, it would require that the passengers on board the Diamond Princess to be pretty old or sick. Either way, the more information we receive the better.

https://twitter.com/ShamsCharania/status/1244083445732716546 Finally New Yorkers get some good coronavirus news.
https://twitter.com/MrHarryCole/status/1244040159982690304 Huh. If this is true the real Chinese death totals would be between 45k and 120k. Not out of the realm of possibility.
I believe I guessed between 50K and 100K deaths, so looks like I was close
Maybe. I want to be conservative in the absence of hard evidence, but that ballpark seems plausible, and taking China at their word is always a dubious proposition.
Believing China's virus numbers is like believing Torba's claims about Gab's active userbase.
It took 25 days for the US to go from 1 death to 1000 deaths. It took 3 days to go from 1000 to 2000.

UK and Italy are the same though. USA might end up counting that way as well.
Kind of complicates things for flubros who think Italy's death total is exaggerated though.
Yeah, apparently reality is it's at least 3 times more than the reported figure. Same in Spain as well. https://elpais.com/sociedad/2020-03-27/el-coronavirus-causa-mas-muertes-de-las-detectadas.html

https://twitter.com/joshrogin/status/1243662199022813184 Interesting. This would seem to indicate that Wuhan had in the ballpark of 40k deaths instead of 2.5k. If they underreported nationwide at that rate it'd be around 52k dead. Could be wrong, this might not be representative of the whole country, but I'd wager China's real death toll is in the tens of thousands, and that's why they panicked and locked down.

>That's the ugly side of comunitarianism. Kinda wonder how that plays into the herbivore men, since they don't seem to fall into the hive mentality.
@Secftblgirl what the fuck, it's not about communism. Is about doing what's better for the community.
People in western societies are entitled little pieces of shit. In Japan, they are courteous and the Japanese are always looking to make things easier for everyone around them.
Watch some videos of earthquakes in Japan and then in USA. The chances of getting run over by a crowd that is trying to escape in panic from an earthquake or tsunami is essentially non existent in Japan.
The Japanese are a culture to emulate in many ways. Perhaps not in their stupid censorship laws, though.
>That's why I said communitarianism and not communism.

Yeah I should've taken that bet about there being over 2000 deaths in the US before the end of March. I figured we'd be in the 2000-3000 death range by then, but shied away from betting on even the lower bound of that.

Which was always weird to me, because Xenoblade 1's plot quickly felt to me like that of a (really good) Shonen anime.
Most of the people crying about Pyra probably hate Lolis too tbqh. Especially lewd Lolis.
That was the particular subgenre of nongamer I was thinking of, yes. They lack the ability to appreciate the anime tiddy.
For people wondering why Germany's CFR has been so low, it's mostly because they tested and found a lot of cases early, and it takes time for said cases to play out, especially fatal ones. Not too long ago it was 0.25%, now it's up to 0.65%. Same in South Korea, where it was initially around 0.7%, but has since crept up to around 1.5%. Note that these are best-case scenarios, and the CFR skyrockets further where hospitals become overwhelmed. Unconstrained spread of a highly infectious disease with this kind of kill/hospitalization rate will do massive amounts of damage.

I'd expect an uptick in all racial groups, but if I had to guess it would be highest in blacks.
